Some lessons cannot be learned from books. They can only be gained by listening to people who have spent decades working with the land. As part of my journey with AgriFruit Project to better understand Vietnamese agriculture, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Le Van Tan, an experienced farmer who has dedicated many years to growing mangosteen. What I took away from this visit was not only inspiring stories, but also practical knowledge that I believe deserves to be shared with more farming communities.

Valuable Lessons on Helping Mangosteen Trees Produce Fruit at the Right Time

During our conversation, Mr. Le Van Tan shared many years of experience in caring for mangosteen trees, especially the techniques for helping the trees flower, set fruit at the right time, and maintain stable yields throughout each season. From monitoring tree growth and managing water to improving soil conditions and observing changes in the weather, every step requires careful attention and experience built over many years.

What impressed me most was that there is no single formula that works for every orchard. Farmers need to understand the characteristics of each tree, each growing season, and adjust their farming practices accordingly. It is this careful observation and hands-on experience that has helped his orchard maintain both high quality fruit and consistent production year after year.

Learning to Share, Connecting to Grow Together

For me, the greatest value of this visit was not only the knowledge I gained, but also the opportunity to share these practical experiences with more people. I believe that when valuable lessons from experienced farmers are shared more widely, more farming households will have the opportunity to learn from them and apply what is most suitable to their own orchards.

This is also one of the missions that AgriFruit Project continues to pursue: becoming a bridge that connects farmers so that valuable knowledge is not limited to a single orchard or one local community, but can reach many more people and contribute to a more productive and sustainable future for Vietnamese agriculture.

Knowledge Creates the Greatest Value When It Is Shared

As I left Mr. Tan’s orchard, I realized that every farmer carries a wealth of knowledge built through years of hard work and real life experience. I hope to have many more opportunities to listen, learn, and document stories like these, so that together with the AgriFruit Project, I can continue sharing practical agricultural knowledge with more farming communities. Because when knowledge is shared, the value of Vietnamese agriculture has an even greater opportunity to grow and reach further.
